It is something that every prospective franchisee should find out before they invest their life savings into a business.
Think about it, their website is phenomenal, their idea makes so much sense, their franchised units is growing every month.. Why should you even care if there are complaints?
Well, not to bash a franchise, but it is a great current example of a warning I am trying to put out to any prospective franchisee.
Quizno's is one of the hottest food franchises out there today. Their concept, food, growth, and profit is amazing. They sign up more franchises everyday. Why wouldn't you want a franchise with Quizno's?
Well, there is not only a long list of complaints, but there is lawsuits pending against them.
The reason why? They not only have exaggerated about how much profit each store can make, but they are signing up units in territories extremely close to other already established territories.
There have been multiple occurences where a franchisee has faced competition by another Quizno's built just five miles away.
If you didn't really look into the franchise, it would be hard to really see this side of Quizno's. They have a HUGE advertising budget to draw in money-hungry business professionals and dreamers.
Here are a few ways to protect yourself:
www.bbb.org (Better Business Bureau) - Research to see if they have complaints
www.google.com - Search "Company Name Complaints" - this is a quick way to see if there's any complaints about this company anywhere on the Internet.
ALWAYS contact a number of other franchisees to ask the good and the bad of the franchise. They will be eager to tell you their experiences. This is one of the best ways to get a behind the scenes look at the franchise.
